Digestive system checkup
We are currently not accepting reservations for colonoscopy.
Currently, more than 370,000 people die from cancer each year nationwide, of which 30 % are cancers of the digestive system, mainly stomach and colon cancer.
Stomach and colon cancers have a high chance of being cured through surgery if they are discovered early, but if they are discovered at an advanced stage, they can be difficult to treat.
At our clinic, we offer a digestive system checkup with the aim of early detection of stomach and colon cancer.
Colon cancer continues to increase
Traditionally, stomach cancer was the most common cancer in Japan, while colon cancer was common in the West. However, in recent years, colon cancer cases have been increasing rapidly due to the Westernization of dietary habits. According to recent statistics, colon cancer is already the leading cause of cancer death in women. The incidence of colon cancer has increased from the 40s, and is now highest in people in their 60s.

Risk Factors for Colon cancer
- There are polyps in the large intestine.
- Someone in your family has had colon cancer.
- Have a history of ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or other cancers.
If any of these apply to you, you should be careful.
Those who fall under categories 1 and 3 can undergo a colonoscopy as an outpatient procedure (covered by health insurance).
The fecal occult blood test (two-fluid method) is available as a screening test for colorectal cancer, but its sensitivity for early colorectal cancer is 53% to 75%. Since the risk age for developing colorectal cancer is in the late XNUMXs, we recommend that patients over 45 years of age have a colonoscopy, which is more accurate than the fecal occult blood test.
Digestive system check-up menu and prices
In our clinic's gastrointestinal checkup, the upper digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, duodenum) and the lower digestive tract (colon, rectum) are directly observed with an endoscope. We use a sedative to make the examination easier while asleep, so it is recommended for those who are worried about the nausea caused by the gastroscopy. In the lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, we also perform tissue examinations and polypectomies. (This may not be possible depending on the size, etc.)
