Dr. Yoshigata's research was published in the American medical journal "Journal of Nutrition & Food Sciences"

A study on the relationship between equol production capacity (※2018) and intestinal environment, conducted by our clinic's gynecology specialist, Dr. Yoshigata Reimi, and the medical corporation Shinkokai, Sendai General Health Check Clinic (Director: Dr. Ishigaki Yoko), was presented at the 4th International Congress on Nutrition & Health, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on April 12, 19, and was published in the American medical journal,Journal of Nutrition & Food Sciences Online EditionThis article was published in the magazine (dated May 2018, 5).

This study was conducted in cooperation with the Sendai General Health Checkup Clinic, and involved measuring urinary equol levels (equol production capacity), as well as intestinal environment tests and dietary habits. The results are shown below (58 subjects).

  • 1. Most people (96%) have the equol-producing bacteria, but only a small number (22.4%) can actually produce equol.
  • 2. People with equol-producing ability tend to have a higher diversity of intestinal bacteria (※XNUMX).
  • 3. Dietary and lifestyle habits influence the diversity of intestinal bacteria. People with high intestinal bacterial diversity tend to consume more root vegetables, fruits, yogurt, lactic acid bacteria, and mushrooms, and tend to drink less coffee and smoke less.

*1 The ability to produce equol in the body

*2 The existence of various types of intestinal bacteria with different properties in forming the intestinal environment.
