Preventive Blood Purification Therapy
What is blood purification therapy (apheresis)?
It is a preventive medical treatment that "directly" removes substances that cause lifestyle-related diseases, such as bad cholesterol, triglycerides, and inflammatory substances, as well as pathogenic substances such as viruses and toxins, from the blood.
This is a treatment that uses a special "filtration membrane" to separate and remove waste products (bad cholesterol, neutral fats, inflammatory substances, viruses, etc.) that can cause various diseases from the blood in the body, and then returns the purified blood to the body in order to improve health.
As an insurance-covered treatment, this has a history of more than several decades, mainly at university hospitals, and the diseases it can treat are diverse, ranging from digestive diseases (ulcerative colitis and viral hepatitis) to cardiovascular diseases (such as arterial sclerosis obliterans and familial hyperlipidemia), and even collagen diseases and skin diseases. However, due to the specialized treatment techniques, there are only a limited number of facilities that can provide this treatment.
Early adoption of blood purification therapy as part of "preventive medicine"
After two years of preparation and repeated verification of the preventive medical application of blood purification therapy, we started providing the treatment in July 2. We have established our own strict safety standards to provide the treatment more safely to patients. We formed a team with doctors from Juntendo University Hospital and other institutions, led by the then-president of the Japanese Society for Apheresis as project leader, and started preventive treatment based on a detailed treatment plan. Since then, we have continued to verify safety and effectiveness, and are actively working to improve myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, and vascular aging, the biggest cause of bedriddenness.

Who is eligible for treatment?
At our facility, we offer preventive blood purification therapy at a private expense for the following conditions, primarily as one of the treatment options for "lifestyle-related diseases for which standard treatments are not effective enough."
- Those concerned about the risk of cerebral infarction or myocardial infarction (especially those with diabetes or a history of smoking)
- Those who have had a cerebral infarction or myocardial infarction despite receiving standard treatment
- Those who have arteriosclerosis despite normal blood test results and blood pressure, and who are not suitable for medication but would like to take proactive measures
- Others: Atopic diseases (intractable), sudden hearing loss, age-related macular degeneration
Please note that we may refuse treatment to those who fall under the following categories:
- Those who have not received standard treatment
- Those who have been diagnosed by a doctor as not being suitable for this treatment
- Those who do not fully understand the significance of preventive treatment, such as those who expect a complete recovery with one treatment.
- Those who are judged to have difficulty understanding treatment risks, etc.

Treatment flow
Our facility operates under the basic premise that "standard treatment takes top priority," and we only provide treatment to those who understand that preventive blood purification therapy is a supportive therapy.

STEP 02/Counseling
We will provide a thorough explanation based on the consent form for this treatment. If the illness is covered by insurance, we will refer you to a university hospital or other institution.
*In order to carry out treatment safely, additional tests (blood tests, X-rays, electrocardiograms, etc.) may be required depending on the situation.
STEP 03/Treatment (approx. 3-4 hours)
Our facility prioritizes safe and secure treatment, and each patient is treated by a dedicated clinical engineer in addition to doctors and nurses. In addition, treatment is carried out in private rooms to respect the privacy of patients, so patients can relax during their visit, such as watching a movie.
STEP 04/Results sent (approximately 2 weeks later)
We will send you the results of blood tests before and after treatment by mail. In addition to comparing the effectiveness of blood tests for bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels, we may also add targeted tests requested by university hospitals for research purposes upon request.
As a proactive measure to prevent vascular aging
Even among health-conscious people, there are many who, despite undergoing thorough medical checkups, regular checkups, and taking medication, have not been able to lower their bad cholesterol levels, continue to suffer from metabolic syndrome, or have vascular aging. The theme of this initiative is the idea of taking proactive preventive measures before the onset of diseases, rather than receiving extensive treatment only after blood vessels have become clogged, as in cases of cerebral infarction or myocardial infarction. This is a treatment method whose effectiveness has been recognized for many years in advanced medical facilities such as university hospitals. Although one-time treatment is effective, repeated treatment reduces blood viscosity (makes blood thinner) and prevents blood from sticking to arterial walls, so regular purification is recommended for chronic diseases such as lifestyle-related diseases.
First appointment fee: 11,000 yen (tax included)
*We may not be able to treat those whose overall condition is poor or whose blood vessels are too thin. Treatment will only begin after a doctor's examination to determine whether treatment is appropriate.
If treatment is required, the initial consultation fee will be deducted from the cost of treatment.
In addition, to ensure safe treatment, additional tests (blood tests, X-rays, electrocardiograms, etc.) may be required depending on the situation.
*Our clinic provides services in Japanese and English. For other languages, you will need to be accompanied by an interpreter.

Cancellation policy:
If you change or cancel your reservation for blood purification therapy, a separate cancellation fee will be charged.
- 7 days before: (the same day of the week before the consultation date) to the day before: 10% of the treatment fee
- On the day: 50% of treatment cost
