About inspection
- How long does the test take?
Midtown Dock: Approx. 4 to 5 hours
Health Screening : about 3 hours
Lifestyle disease checkup: about 1 to 2 hours
Regular checkup: about 1 hour
*The above times are only estimates. Please note that the examination time may change significantly depending on whether optional examinations are available or the examination schedule.- What is the difference between a gastroscope and a barium test?
■Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscope):
You can choose between oral or nasal endoscopy. Nasal endoscopy has the advantage that the mouth is not covered because the camera is inserted through the nose, and you can talk to the doctor during the examination. However, oral cameras can provide clearer images, so oral endoscopy is recommended for those who are at high risk of stomach cancer after H. pylori infection or H. pylori eradication (40-50 years old or older), or those who wish for a more reliable endoscopic examination.
*Please note that patients with silicone in their noses cannot undergo nasal endoscopy.■If you have had a painful experience with oral endoscopy without the use of sedatives, we can use a sedative (charge: 7,700 yen) to make the examination less painful. If you wish to use this option, please apply in advance (when making your reservation).
*If you wish to use a sedative, please be sure to read the precautions.
■Upper gastrointestinal X-ray (stomach x-ray, barium):
You will drink barium (contrast agent) to examine the condition of your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This is recommended for those who want to have a stomach examination as cheaply as possible, those who have never had a stomach illness before, and those under 40 years old.*You may not be able to undergo a barium test due to a medical history or possible pregnancy. Please check here for details.
- Please tell me about the hygiene management of endoscopy instruments. I am particularly concerned about infections.
The endoscopic examination instruments at our clinic are cleaned and sterilized in accordance with the guidelines of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society. Furthermore, sterilized instruments are limited to one use per patient.
- What is the difference between a mammogram and a breast ultrasound?
"What is breast cancer?" page for more information.
- Are your gynecologists female?
Health checkups and medical examinations are conducted by female doctors.
- Are there any women-only checkup days (Ladies' Day)?
We do not have a Ladies' Day, but we do have a Ladies' Hour* exclusively for female customers. All internal medicine examinations, breast and gynecological examinations are handled by female doctors and technicians. Please note that some endoscopies (gastrocamera examinations) and stomach X-rays (barium) may be handled by male doctors or staff.
*Male patients may be admitted at the doctor's discretion. (When admitting patients, we will give maximum consideration to traffic flow and timing.)
*The Dog Center's ladies' hour is every Wednesday morning (8:00-12:00).
However, after 12:30, you may be sharing the waiting area with male customers arriving from 13:00.Ladies Hour at the Health Screening Center will be held on the afternoon of the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month (13:30-17:00).
- I am worried about blood tests (for example, I have felt sick or collapsed after having blood drawn).
We will guide you to have your blood drawn while lying down on a bed so that you can relax during the blood test. Please feel free to ask our call center staff when you make your reservation. (Please feel free to ask the nurse on the day of your appointment as well.)
Precautions
- Can I take the test if I am menstruating, breastfeeding, or pregnant?
Please be sure to request this when making your reservation.
[Who are on menstruation]
Urine and stool tests will be conducted at a later date.
For gynecological examinations, cervical cancer examinations, transvaginal ultrasound examinations, and HPV examinations are available. Since we use the highly accurate LBC method, there have been no cases since our opening where specimens could not be prepared due to menstrual blood contamination. However, if you would like to have a uterine cancer examination or vaginal culture examination, we will guide you through the examination at a later date.[For those who are breastfeeding]
Mammograms are not available. Ultrasound (echo) examinations can be taken without any problems, but the accuracy of the examination may be slightly lower than usual if you are breastfeeding or if you have the examination shortly after weaning. If you are given a sedative to put you to sleep during an endoscopic examination (gastroscope or colonoscope), please refrain from breastfeeding for 12 hours after administration, so please express milk beforehand if necessary.[Pregnant women]
We do not offer examinations that may involve radiation exposure, such as chest X-rays, stomach X-rays (barium), mammograms, CT scans, bone density tests, endoscopic examinations (gastroscope, colonoscope), MRI/MRA, or gynecological examinations. Please note that blood test results for pregnant women may show values outside the normal range, even if there are no abnormalities.- Are there any dietary restrictions?
If you are undergoing a gastric X-ray (barium test), gastroscopy, abdominal ultrasound, upper abdominal CT scan, or blood test, there will be dietary restrictions. For details, please contact us or check the "Examination Precautions" that will be sent to you in advance.

[People with pacemakers]
MRI/MRA, CT, and mammography examinations are not available. Please be sure to inform us when making your reservation.[People undergoing dialysis]
Upper gastrointestinal contrast examination (barium) is not available. For barium examinations, there is a risk that barium will not be properly excreted from the body if you are on a fluid restriction. Please be sure to inform us when making your reservation.[People with high blood pressure]
Regarding pulmonary function tests (spirometry) and upper gastrointestinal examinations (barium swallow or gastroscopy), your doctor may decide not to conduct them if your blood pressure is high on the day of the health check.[Barium test]

- Those who weigh more than 130 kg on the day of the examination (to ensure the safety of the imaging equipment)
- I have claustrophobia. Can I still have an MRI?
Since it is not an open MRI, you may feel a sense of obstruction. If you are worried, please let us know when making your reservation.
